Kamel, Georg Joseph#

Kamel, Georg Joseph, b. Brno, Czech Republic (then Bruenn), April 16 (?), 1661, d. Manila (Philippines), May 2, 1706, Jesuit, pharmacist, botanist, physician, natural scientist. Lived and worked from 1687 in Manila on Luzon Island, where he established the first pharmacy and studied the fauna, flora, and medicine of the island. The camellia is named after him.
