Kelchalm#
Kelchalm, Tirol, alt.1432 m; part of the municipality of Aurach near Kitzbuehel in the Kitzbuehel Alps; the Kelchalm is one of the most important alpine archeological sites in Austria; a settlement of the late Bronze Age gives evidence of copper mining and alpine farming; copper mining was re-introduced in the 18th century and not abandoned until 1926; some of the most important prehistoric wooden objects in Austria were found at the Kelchalm (the finds are displayed in the museum of local history and culture in Kitzbuehel).
