Khevenhüller, Hochadelsgeschlecht#
Khevenhueller, family of the higher nobility from Carinthia, first mentioned in 1396. Became barons in 1566, imperial counts in 1593 (1725) and princes in 1763 (primogeniture). One line still owns Hochosterwitz Castle. Prominent members of the family included: Count Franz Christoph von Khevenhueller-Frankenburg, Count Georg Khevenhueller, Count Ludwig Andreas Khevenhueller and Prince Johann Joseph Khevenhueller-Metsch.
