Kirchberg in Tirol, Tirol, municipality in the district of Kitzbuehel, alt. 837 m, pop. 4,092, area 97.79 km2, popular bi-seasonal tourist centre (1,036,430 overnight stays), lying to the west of Kitzbuehel, where the Sperten Valley joins the Brixen Valley. - Multipurpose complex hall, workers´ home, vocational school, post of the Tirolean alpine rescue service, social service for workers in the building industry and in forestry, "Haus Nuernberg" Protestant holiday home Fleckalm cableway to Ehrenbachhoehe mountain(1,802 m); wool and wood manufacturing. - In the Middle Ages and up to around 1780, silver and copper mining; late Gothic parish church with Baroque alterations in 1737 with ceiling and wall paintings by S. B. Faistenberger (1739), enlarged in 1977/1978 by C. Holzmeister; Baroque pilgrimage chapel at Kirchanger (1765-1768); Holy Cross church in Aschau in Baroque style (1782/1783); Klausen chapel (1750) and several other chapels (17th -19th century); old single-building farmsteads (Einhof) from the 17th and 18th centuries; completely preserved oil press (19th century); traditions and customs: the yearly Brixental Antlassritt (Corpus Christi horse procession).
