Kitzsteinhorn#
Kitzsteinhorn Mountain, province of Salzburg, 3,203 m, glaciated mountain in the Hohen Tauern Mountains lying between the Kaprun and Stubach Valleys. The Kaprun II funicular railway (length: 3,800 m, of which 3200 m in a tunnel) runs from the Kapruner Thoerl pass in the Kaprun Valley to the alpine centre Kaprun. The Kaprun I cableway runs via the Salzburg Huette refuge (1,860 m) and the alpine centre of Kaprun (a winter sports facility, 2,446 m) up to the glaciated Kitzsteinhorn mountain. The cableway features the highest supporting pylon in the world (113 m high), at the upper station, "panorama tunnel" in the Schmiedinger Gletscher glacier, with superb panoramic view.
