Klaus#
Klaus, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Feldkirch, alt. 507 m, pop. 2,465, area 5.24 km2, situated on the Klausbach stream, on the edge of the Rhine valley. - Dynamic economic activity: worsted factory, processing of plastics (foils, packaging materials) and foamed materials, powder coating factory, numerous medium-scale businesses (building materials, electric furnaces, kitchen furnishings), hazardous waste reprocessing plant; some tourism; some viticulture, mostly for tradition's sake. - Part of Austria since 1390; Late Gothic parish church of Saint Agnes (built around 1500), with Gothic gallery, enlarged in the 19th century.
