Kleine Volksblatt, Das#

Kleine Volksblatt, Das, small-format Vienna daily newspaper of the Christian Social Party, founded on January 27, 1929, counterpart to the "Kleines Blatt". In 1938 "brought into line" with the National Socialist state, on August 31, 1944 merged with the "Kleine Wiener Kriegszeitung". On August 5, 1945 re-established as a daily of the OeVP (People's Party), central party organ until July 1947. Appeared as "Volksblatt" in large format from October 10, 1962, but lost many readers and was discontinued on November 11, 1970. Circulation in 1935: 120,000, in 1958: 125,000, in 1970: 50,000.
