Knaack, Wilhelm#
Knaack, Wilhelm, b. Rostock (Germany), Feb. 13, 1829, d. Vienna, Oct. 29, 1894, actor. His talent as a comedian was discovered when he was only 17, after appearances in several theatres in North Germany. In 1956 was taken to Prague by H. Laubes, 1857 was engaged at the Vienna Carltheater by J. Nestroy, where he soon played Nestroy parts. Formed a highly popular comedy trio with K. Blasel und J. Matras. From 1860 regular guest performances in Budapest, 1882 successful tour through North America.
