Koenig, Alma Johanna (Baroness of Ehrenfels by marriage, pseudonym: Johannes Herdan), b. Prague (Czech Republic), Aug. 18, 1887, d. ghetto in Minsk (Byelorussia), 1942, narrative writer and poet of Jewish descent. From 1888 in Vienna, deported on May 27, 1942 and presumed dead. Owed her success chiefly to sensitive historical and psychological novels.
