Kofler, Ludwig#

Kofler, Ludwig, b. Dornbirn (Vorarlberg), Nov. 30, 1891, d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Aug. 23, 1951, pharmacologist. From 1921 university professor in Innsbruck, dealt with saponins and the content of essential oils in drugs. Developed equipment for the microscopic examination of organic substances and compounds. Together with his son he constructed the "K.-Heizbank", a heating device used for determining the melting point of organic substances.
