b. Bleiburg, Carinthia, Jan. 22, 1935, d. Vienna, Feb. 1, 1997, artist. Studied at the Vienna Academy of Applied Art and the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts from 1954 to 1958; lived in New York from 1961 (contacts with leading international artists such as Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol) initially focused mainly on object art ("Hangings"), pop-art and the subject of femininity; later also turned to ceramics, glass and installations.
