Krauß, Franz Freiherr von#
Krauss, Baron Franz von, b. Vienna, June 14, 1865, d. Vienna, Feb. 24, 1942, architect. 1889/90-94 employed at the studio Fellner & Helmer, then independent, generally worked in association with J. Toelk. Created extensive, often outstanding and monumental, residential and office buildings in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, which were characterized by the transition from late historicism to modern functionalism. Teacher at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, Professor at the University of Technology.

Graf, demolished in 1960); Franzensbruecke, 1899 (bridge, with F. Pfeuffer, destroyed in 1945); Mental Hospital Rosenhuegel, Vienna, 1911; municipal housing schemes S.-Freud-Hof, 1925, and Sandleiten, 1924-1927 (cooperation). - Lower Austria: Therapeutic Baths and Sanatorium in Baden, 1903.
