Kuefstein, Hans Ludwig Graf von#
Kuefstein, Count Hans Ludwig von, b. 1582/1583, d. Linz (Upper Austria), Sept. 27, 1657, diplomat and civil servant. As a Protestant nobleman he studied at the universities of Padua, Siena und Bologna, converted to Catholicism in 1627 and was made ambassador to
Constantinople by Emperor Ferdinand II in 1628/1629; in 1630 he
was made Governor of Austria below the River Enns. Translated Romance
literature and wrote diaries and reports.
