Kurzweil, Maximilian#
Kurzweil, Maximilian, b. Bzenec, Czech Republic (then Bisenz), Oct. 12 (or 13), 1867, d. Vienna, May 9, 1916 (suicide), painter and graphic artist, son of a manufacturer. Moved to Vienna (1879) and studied at the Vienna Academy under C. Griepenkerl and L. C. Mueller. From 1891 regular stays in France. Member of the Vienna Secession movement, taught at the Vienna Art School for Women; contributed to the magazine "Ver Sacrum".
