Löwe, Ferdinand#
b. Vienna, Feb. 19, 1865, d. Vienna, Jan. 6, 1925, conductor. Student of A. Bruckner; 1898 kapellmeister of the court opera, 1900 first conductor of the Wiener Concertvereinsorchester ( Wiener Symphoniker), 1905-1919 conducted the workers' concerts ("Arbeiterkonzerte"). Teacher at the Vienna Conservatory (which in 1919 became the Vienna Music Academy and later Musikhochschule), 1918 to 1922 head of this institution; particularly committed to the performance of A. Bruckner's symphonies.
