Laas, Carinthia, village in the district of Hermagor, alt. 831 m, situated in the Gailtal Alps, part of the market town of Koetschach-Mauthen. Provincial hospital and sanatorium. Small power station in Laas. - Church in the late Gothic style (1510-1535) with a Christophorus fresco (1520-1530) on the south wall of the nave, murals from the late Gothic period, carved figurines of St. Florian and St. Georg in the late Gothic style (around 1500); castle ruin Pittersberg (first documentary mention in 1252). 280 million-year-old petrified tree.
