Lampa, Anton#
b. Budapest, Hungary, Jan. 17, 1868, d. Vienna, Jan. 27, 1938, physicist, also took special interest in adult education. Co-founder of the Vienna Volksheim, the first adult education centre in Vienna (forerunner of the Vienna Volkshochschulen), in 1901; 1909-1919 Professor of Experimental Physics and Head of the Department of Physics at the German University of Prague, from 1921 Professor at the University of Vienna., 1927-1936 President of Vienna's Urania adult education institute. Designed an apparatus for the generation and measurement of extremely short electromagnetic waves and studied in particular the refraction of electrical waves.
