Landschulerneuerung#
Rural School Reform, name of a pedagogical reform movement which was initiated by the Ministry of Education in 1946 to promote teaching and education in schools in rural areas which had only one, two or three classes depending on the number of pupils (i.e. several grades within one class), this was the case in two thirds of all Austrian primary schools. The test model for schools in rural areas (1948-1960) developed new didactic methods. The number of primary schools with only one or two classes was considerably reduced, many new schools were built and equipped with better furniture and teaching aids.
