Lanzedelli, Joseph the Elder, b. Cortina d´Ampezzo (Italy), Feb. 26, 1772 d. Vienna, Dec. 5, 1831, painter of miniatures, portraits and genre scenes and lithographer; father and first teacher of the painters Joseph L. the younger and Carl L. Studied at the Academies in Venice and Vienna, used his own and other artists´ works for his lithographs; preferred painting scenes from human life, esp. people at work. His works were widely popular.
