Lind, Jakov eigentlich J. Landwirt#
Lind, Jakov (real name: J. Landwirt), b. Vienna, Feb. 10, 1927, author. Fled the Nazis in 1938; from 1943 lived in Germany under an assumed name. 1945 emigrated to Palestine, where he began writing short stories. At the beginning of the 1950s returned to Vienna and studied at the Reinhardt Seminar; 1954 moved to London; 1965-1975 visiting professor for creative writing at various American universities. Since the late 1960s has written stories, novels, plays and radio plays in English. The central themes of his works are the survival of and life after the Holocaust as well as the Jewish sense of identity.
