Lobe, Mira geborene Rosenthal#
b. Goerlitz (Germany), Sept. 17, 1913, d. Vienna, Feb. 6, 1995, author of children's and young people's books. Attended a textile and fashion school, emigrated to Palestine in 1936. 1943 started her writing career, 1950 moved to Vienna. Her books "Die Omama im Apfelbaum" (1965) and "Das kleine Ich-bin-ich" (1972) are classics among children's books; they are characterized by social commitment and precise, humorous language. In 1980 L. was the first woman to be awarded the Austrian Recognition Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature. 1958 and 1965 Austrian State Prize for Youth Literature.
