Ludlamshöhle#
Ludlamshoehle, association of Viennese writers and artists, famous literary salon, founded in 1819 by I. F. Castelli, named after a play by Oehlenschlaeger. Important personalities of Vienna´s intellectual and cultural life soon became members of the Ludlamshoehle, such as F. Grillparzer, J. G. Seidl, M. G. Saphir and H. Anschuetz. In 1826 the association was dissolved on the (unjustified) suspicion of subversion, came to life again later, but never regained its former reputation. After 1945 another association of Viennese writers was set up under the same name.
