Luisenschwestern#
Sisters of the Blessed Louise de Marillac, founded in 1965, association of trained secular Catholic nurses; successors to the secular Sisters of Charity which were under the guardianship of the Sisters of Mercy; from 1951 named after St. Louise of Marillac. The Sisters of Charity had been established in 1943 as a counterweight to the nationalist oriented "Brown Sisters". Their aim is to live a truly Christian life and support each other in translating the professional ethics of the Catholic Church into reality. Close cooperation with the Sisters of Mercy, i.e. as headmistresses of a boarding school for girls in Graz; approximately 600 members in Austria.
