Müller, Leopold Carl#
b. Dresden (Germany), Dec. 9, 1834, d. Weidlingau near Vienna, Aug. 4, 1892, genre and landscape painter, called "Orient-painter" and "Aegypten-Mueller", son of a lithographer in Vienna, studied under C. von Blaas at the Vienna Academy. Study trips to Hungary and Italy, and most frequently, to Egypt (between 1873 and 1886). In 1875 joined by H. Makart, F. von Lenbach and C. R. Huber. Professor at the Vienna Academy from 1878; 1886 last trip to Egypt, most prominent representative of Austrian oriental genre painting.
