Mürzsteg#
Muerzsteg, Styria, municipality in the district of Muerzzuschlag, alt. 782 m, pop. 652, area 108.58 km2, tourist resort (43,345 overnight stays) at the entrance of the Dobrein stream into the Muerz Valley; near Veitsch mountain (Hohe Veitsch, 1,981 m). - Youth hostel, largest wooden playground in Europe, electric power station. - Parish church (1898); hunting lodge (1869, annexes from 1879 and 1902) with trophy collection, where, in 1903, Emperor Franz Joseph and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia drafted the "Muerzsteg Punctation", a reform programme for the Ottoman Empire; since 1945 summer residence of the Austrian Federal President; "Totes Weib" ("Dead Woman") waterfall.
