Machland#
Machland, Upper Austria, also called Riedmark. Lying between the market-town of Mauthausen and the town of Grein, the Machland is a grassland region situated along the left bank of the River Danube at the confluence of the rivers Aist and Naarn. The Machland constitutes the lowest, climatically most favoured, most fertile and most populated part of the Muehlviertel region. Most of its towns and villages, including the main centre Perg, as well as the major transport routes, are situated on the Danube terrace.
