Mallina, Erich#
b. Přerov, Czech Republic (then Prerau), April 9, 1873, d. Vienna, Nov. 19, 1954, painter and graphic artist. Studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, taught in that institution from 1906. In his early works he stayed true to the decorative style of the Secession. From 1903 onwards created variations of ethereal figures of women and choirs of angels as well as symbolic picture designs of mystic-visionary content in pointillist technique. Also produced fairy tale illustrations, caricatures and oil paintings. Was awarded the Golden Honorary Medal of the Republic of Austria ("Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der Republik Oesterreich") in 1931.
