Mandling#

Mandling, province of Salzburg, name refers to a northern tributary of the River Enns, as well as to a valley situated on the upper reaches of the River Enns between the village of Mandling and the town of Radstadt. The Rivers Warme Mandling and Kalte Mandling rise on the southern foothills of the Dachstein Massif (Hoher Dachstein Mountain, alt. 2,995 m); the well-known skiing resort of Filzmoos (alt. 1,056 m) lies in the valley of the River Warme Mandling. The rivers join up at Grahsteg to become the River Mandling, which flows through a wooded gorge towards the south of the province; after some kilometres it empties into the River Enns at the village of Mandling. Since time immemorial the River Kalte Mandling, the village of Mandling, as well as the narrow stretch of the valley near the Mandling Pass (dam dating from the 13th century) have formed the natural border between the provinces of Salzburg and Styria.- The village of Mandling is administered by the municipality of Radstadt situated further west (alt. 858 m).
