Mariabrunn#
Mariabrunn, since 1938 part of the 14th district of Vienna; former Augustine monastery built between 1634 and 1829; abolished in 1785/86. In 1813 the Department of Forestry, which had been founded in 1805, was transferred from Purkersdorf to Mariabrunn (became part of the University of Agriculture in 1875). From 1616 important place of pilgrimage, above all for members of the nobility; its fair (held on September 8 to commemorate the consecration of the church) was described by A. Stifter.
