Marianists, Society of Mary (SM, also called Marists), congregation of priests and lay brothers founded in 1817, primarily engaged in the Christian education of young people and priestly ministry; first Austrian congregation founded in 1857; in 1906 Austrian and German congregations were united in a common province which has its motherhouse at Greisinghof (near the market town of Tragwein, Upper Austria)
