Markt, Gustav#

b. Inzing, Tirol, Dec. 14, 1881, d. Innsbruck, Tirol, Oct. 6, 1977, electrical engineer. Studied at Vienna University of Technology 1900-06. From 1908 on the staff (from 1933 board member) of Oesterreichische Siemens-Schuckert-Werke. Instrumental in the electrification of railways and in planning and constructing power stations and the national grid. The Markt-Mengel bunch conductor for the transmission of high-voltage and ultrahigh-voltage current is named after him and his colleague B. Mengele. From 1931 also Professor at Vienna University of Technology and from 1945 at the University of Innsbruck.
