Maronibrater: Empress Maria Theresia issued a decree permitting the Gottscheer to sell Sweet Chestnuts as itinerant vendors which they imported to Austria from Slovenia. In 1995, the number of licences was 196, with 60 licences not being used. To the present, the percentage of Slovenes among roast chestnut vendors in Austria has remained high.
