Mataja, Viktor#
b. Vienna, July 20, 1857, d. Vienna, June 19, 1934, economist and social politician. Half-brother of Mataja. From 1893 employed with the Vienna Chamber of Trade, 1890 Professor at the University of Innsbruck, 1897 in Vienna, 1908 to 1911 twice Trade Minister, 1917 Minister without Portfolio, organized 1917/18 the Ministry for Social Welfare, which he headed in 1918. From 1892 head of the Trade Statistical Service, 1914 to 1917 and 1919 to 1922 President of the Statistical Central Commission. Pioneer in advertising.
