Mayer, Carl#
b. Graz (Styria), Feb. 20, 1894, d. London (United Kingdom), July 1, 1944, actor, painter, dramatist, script writer. At first, dramaturge at the theatre in Innsbruck. From 1919 one of the most important silent film script writers. He emigrated to England in 1932, his advice to many young directors in formal and technical aspects (mobile film camera) contributed substantially to the development of sound film. Worked in the USA, France and Great Britain. The town of Graz awards the C. M. Prize for Script Writers, named after him.
