b. Wels (Upper Austria), March 12, 1926, d. Vienna, Feb. 15, 1993, photographer and cultural manager. 1975 to 1993 President of the Vienna Kuenstlerhaus , which was transformed under his direction into a centre for large-scale international exhibitions. Greatly supported the establishment of the Ludwig Foundation in Vienna ( Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation) and cultural exchange with Eastern European countries. Honorary doctorates from the Universities of Sofia, Budapest and Tokio.
