Meisel, Kurt#

b. Vienna, Aug. 18, 1912, d. Vienna, April 4, 1994, (film) actor, director, theatre manager, husband of the actress Ursula Lingen. 1935 film debut ("Der Ehestreik"), from 1937 at the Berliner Staatstheater. During the 1950s directed numerous film and TV productions; 1945-1960 at several theatres in Berlin, at the Muenchner Kammerspiele in Munich, at the Burgtheater and at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. 1960-1964 director of the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel, Munich, 1965-1971 director at the Burgtheater, 1970-1983 manager of the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel (1973 honorary member). From 1984 again actor in Vienna (Burgtheater), Hamburg, Stuttgart and Berlin. Numerous awards.
