Meister von Maria am Gestade auch Redemptoristenmeister#

Meister von Maria am Gestade (also: Redemptoristenmeister), painter. Worked in Vienna around 1450/60, important representative of the style of painting influenced by Dutch art that prevailed in the mid-15th century; some influence from Franconia is also discernible. He is named after the two wings of a big altar (around 1457) originally created for the church of Maria am Gestade in Vienna. The wings are painted on both sides; the altar is now kept at the Cathedral and Diocesan Museum. The panels depict the Annunciation and Coronation of the Virgin as well as the Prayer on the Mount of Olives and the Crucifixion.
