Memoiren#
Memoirs: Autobiographies of leading personalities of public life, who frequently combine their recollection of events with the justification of their actions. This literary genre, which had already become known in Austria by the late Middle Ages ("Weisskunig" and "Theuerdank" by Emperor Maximilian I), has regained considerable popularity since the end of the 19th century. In recent times, important memoirs have been written by Federal Chancellors J. Klaus and B. Kreisky and others. K. Waldheim's memoirs gave rise to considerable controversy in 1986.
