Mengele, Benno#
b. Zwettl, Lower Austria, Dec. 11, 1898, d. Vienna, Sept. 15, 1971, electrical engineer. Studied at Vienna University of Technology from 1918 to 1923, on the staff of Oesterreichische Siemens-Schuckert-Werke from 1922, recognised for his expertise in dealing with electrotechnical phenomena and developments (protective earthing, fault currents), the development of bunch conductors for high-voltage and ultrahigh-voltage transmission (in cooperation with G. Markt); also built the first hydrogen-cooled three-phase motor in Austria.
