Metternich, Richard Klemens Fürst#

b. Vienna, Jan. 7, 1829, d. Vienna, March 1, 1895, diplomat, son of Prince Clemens Wenzel Lothar Metternich, uncle and husband of Princess Pauline Metternich. In 1855 M. was legation secretary at the Austrian legation in Paris, 1856 special envoy and authorised Austrian minister to the Saxon court, 1859-1870 ambassador to Paris, where he played an important social role at the court of Napoleon III with his wife Pauline. He edited the unpublished works of his father.
