Miethke#
Miethke, gallery and art dealers, founded by H. O. Miethke in Vienna in 1861, in 1904 acquired by the jeweller Paul Bacher, a friend of G. Klimt. Under the artistic direction of C. Moll it became the most prominent gallery in Vienna after the turn of the century. Until 1904 exhibited mostly Viennese painters like R. von Alt and H. Makart, in 1905 complete exhibition of the Wiener Werkstaette, then mainly exhibitions of the Klimt group, but also of foreign artists like Ferdinand Hodler, Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso. In 1919 the gallery was turned into the "Haus der jungen Kuenstlerschaft" (House of Young Artists), and in 1936 taken over by the Dorotheum auction house.
