Mitgutsch, Waltraud Anna#
b. Linz (Upper Austria), Oct. 2, 1948, narrative writer, essayist. Studied German and English in Salzburg, later research and teaching assistant at the University of Innsbruck; long stays in Israel, England, Korea and the USA. In her novels she discusses women in their social environment. Almost documentary in the description of emotional states, M. describes a pathological mother-daughter relationship in her often awarded novel "Die Zuechtigung" (1985).
