Mobilmachung#
Mobilisation, the first operation of military forces in the case of war or crisis. The units of the armed forces are brought up to operating strength by the call-up of reservists (trained soldiers). The new organisation of the Austrian Army decided upon in 1992/94 after the changes of the strategic situation in Europe envisages a lowering of the mobilisation strength from 240,000 to 120,000 soldiers by the end of 1995. Mobilisation is ordered by the Federal Ministry of Defence after consultation with the Federal President and a formal decision by the Federal Government.
