Monopole#

Monopolies: From the 18th century until 1994 four state monopolies existed in Austria, i.e. the salt, tobacco ( Austria Tabak), gambling and ( spirits monopoly). All of them except for the Gambling Monopoly ceased to exist when Austria joined the European Union in 1995 (principle of free circulation of goods).
