Neue Wege#

Neue Wege, literary magazine founded in 1948 and first associated with the Theater der Jugend (founded 1932 and again 1945); important forum for innovative literature in Austria around 1950. Authors include E. Kein, A. Okopenko, H. C. Artmann, G. Fritsch, F. Polakovics, R. Altmann, W. Toman and F. Mayroecker. In 1951 H. Hakel became editor-in-chief and published texts by E. Jandl and G. Ruehm. Around 1960 the Neue Wege lost its pioneering role in the literary scene.
