Neufelden#
Neufelden, Upper Austria, market town in the district of Rohrbach im Muehlkreis, alt. 517m, pop. 1,236, area 9.76 km2, situated on the River Grosse Muehl above the reservoir (on the territory of the municipality of Neufelden) of the Partenstein storage power station (constructed in 1924, 33.8 MW, municipality of Kleinzell). District court, local forestry authorities, secondary technical school (HTL), nearby game preserve (since 1969, on the territory of the municipality of Altenfelden); plumbing business, wood processing, recycling plant, summer tourism. Former centre of linen weaving, in the 19th century hop cultivation, seat of the provincial hop cultivation association. - Late-Gothic, Renaissance and late Baroque patrician houses, late-Gothic parish church with net ribbed vaults and choir (remodelled in Baroque style), Baroque interior, altar piece (1774) by M. J. Schmidt and Gothic reliefs showing the apostles (from the end of the 15th century). Museum in the former public jail. Heimathaus (house of local history and culture) and museum of regional arts and crafts. Close by: Puernstein castle.
