Neuhäusel#
Neuhaeusel Fortress (Nove Zámky, Slovakia, Hungarian: Ersek-Ujvar), Austrian fortress constructed and enlarged after the defeat of Gran (Esztergom) for the protection of Northern Hungary (now Slovakia) in 1543. Played an important part in the Turkish wars of the 17th century: conquered by the Ottomans in 1663, retrieved after a two year siege. Dismantled in 1724/25.
