Neuhaus#

Neuhaus, Carinthia, district of Voelkermarkt, municipality, alt. 442m, pop. 1,285, area 36.33 km2, situated south of the River Drau/Drava to the west of Lavamuend. - Leifling customs post, Bach customs house, Lavamuend and Schwabeck power stations on the River Drau (half of them on the territory of the municipalities of Neuhaus and Lavamuend). - Gothic parish church (begun in the 14th century) with Gothic frescoes (around 1400), traces of frescoes from the 15th and 16th century, tracery windows with stained glass (15th century); Renaissance castle with baroque alterations (first documented mention in 1278).
