Nilsson, Märta Birgit#
b. Vaestra Karup near Malmoe (Sweden), May 17, 1918, singer (soprano), 1946 debut in Stockholm, 1954 first performance at the Vienna State Opera, where she was very successful until her retirement from the stage in 1984. She is considered the best female Wagner singer of the post-war period and one of the best dramatic sopranos. Honorary Member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
