Olivier, Ferdinand von#
b. Dessau (Germany), April 1, 1785, d. Munich (Germany), Feb. 11, 1841, landscape painter and graphic artist; brother of the painters Heinrich and Friedrich von Olivier. First training in Dessau and Dresden, 1811-1830 in Vienna, member of the Lukasbund society ( Nazarenes), but never went to Italy. Travelled throughout the Alps, especially Salzburg, moved to Munich in 1830, from 1833 taught art history and was secretary at the Munich Academy. also wrote poems. most renowned for the lithographic series "7 Gegenden aus Salzburg and Berchtesgaden".
